Grand Rapids Montessori Public School Reviews
Quality Score: 4 Post Date:2009-01-13
“I have had four children in this program, one has graduated, and one is currently a junior. Two transfered to another specialty school. This is an amazing program that has been offered to public school children. Hands on learning that has equipped my children for a real future. It has sensitized them to a global community and enabled them to be a functioning part of it. Even, a catalyst for change!” This review was posted by a parent.

“I have two students in the GR Montessori program, and a 3rd who graduated. All three thrived with the multi-level classes, a 3 year cycle which allows them to learn by observation and being mentored (1st yr), develop their own learning and guiding styles(2nd yr), and becoming mentors and leaders (3rd yr). Montessori 7th-12 grades are very collaborative and students develop the ability to work together and independently in a collegiate or professional manner that translates well into college and the work world. We have experienced strong fostering of inner self-motivation into lifelong skills. This academic experience focuses on process oriented learning, rather than the test result oriented norm, which does a disservice to parents seeking the best for their child through test results per school or district. Test scores are only a small part of assessing the best educational experience and opportunity for individual success.” This review was posted by a parent.

“I've been in the Montessori program for 6 years now, and I cannot imagine being in any other school. We have the best teachers and the classes allow us to learn at our own pace rather than at the teachers speed. I love Montessori and I will miss it when I graduate. I really wish that people could see Montessori for what it really is rather than just making on-the-spot judgments. These past 6 years have been the best of my life and I wouldn't trade them for the world.” This review was posted by a student.

“My children love to learn, and they learned to learn at this school. The test scores do not show the number of children who excel above average.” This review was posted by a parent.

“My children have attended this Montessori school for 12 years. Excellent teachers! School wide projects include everyone, and school PTO is always striving to make sure all the teachers/students have what they need. Parental involvement encouraged.” This review was posted by a parent.

“I have three children that have attended this school. It is a great learning environment, and if your child is a fast learner, they can excel even quicker in this classroom. Having older students in the class is a positive learning experience for everyone. The children are excited to go!” This review was posted by a parent.
