Sensual, erotic, suggestive, voluptuous is the intrinsic message in the sculptures of Fernando Ortiz. Wood, stone, clay or metal are melted, carved, transformed from inanimate into a visual expression of existence. “My sculptures evolve as I work within my mind’s eyes. My designs, even though inspired generally by the human figure, exceed the simple search for anatomical form to become stylized, abstract or just an evocative movement” Today, his contemporary sculptures can be found in private collections throughout Europe, in the Caribbean and North America. Fernando’s work ranges from medium size table top pieces to monumental artwork. He currently works as a Designer for a corporation, but he also has his own studio in Grand Rapids, MI.
